A Spartan's sorrow, Hannah Lynn. "All murders must be avenged. While the rest of Greece mourns for the war that has taken their husbands away, Clytemnestra fears the day it will bring hers back. When her husband willingly sacrifices their eldest daughter to appease the Gods, Clytemnestra vows to do whatever it takes to protect her remaining children. But in doing so she faces losing them altogether." I love tales of ancient Greece, their myths are just so fascinating. When I was a teenager I kept reading a book about Greek myths over and over again. Now as an adult, I am over the moon of the fact that there are more and more fictional retellings of these epic tales, especially ones that give a voice to women. That being said, A Spartan's sorrow was at times too much loss and bitter betrayals for me. The book is less heroism, love and adventure, and more domestic horror of a whole family destroying itself. Of course I knew that stories about the House of Atreus are not...
