Galatea, Madeline Miller.

Galatea, Madeline Miller.

"Of course I am cold - I used to be made out of stone."

Madeline Miller has done it again. In just a short novel she brings life to ancient Greece and its' myths. Galatea might be a short story, but it is just as impressive as Song of Achilles or Cirke!

Galatea tells the story of a skilled but cruel marble sculptur, whose masterpiece work came to life and is now his wife. But the man knows no real love, and is jealous and obsessive instead. He locks his wife away, but with their daughter to rescue the wife is determined to break free.

I would describe this story as kind of a feminist novel about independence and mother's love. Even as a short story it surprises the reader and brings up lot of different emotions.

The only question is, what do I do now, when I have read everything that Madeline Miller has written?!

Audiobook read by Ruth Wilson.
